Install An Hp Psc 1315 Printer

The Hewlett Packard PSC 1315 has many functions.

Any standard printer can print but the Hewlett Packard PSC 1315 is a multifunction ink-jet printer, which means that it can scan and copy as well. You can also print directly from a PictBridge-compatible camera to the HP PSC without the need for a computer. To print to the HP PSC from a computer, you must first connect the printer and install the software.

Instructions

Printer Set-up

1. Check that you have removed all the colored protective packing tape from the outside of the printer, then open the front access door and remove the cardboard liner containing the power cable and ink cartridges.

2. Attach the control panel overlay to the printer, if necessary. Some HP PSC 1315 printers come with this panel overlay pre-attached. If yours does not, remove the adhesive from the back of the overlay, then open the printer's lid and affix the overlay into the inset area near the top left front corner. Press it securely in place.

3. Open the front access panel. Extend the paper tray guides as far as possible. Load the paper tray with standard letter-sized white paper.

4. Connect the power cord to the power adapter. Insert the three-pronged electrical plug into a wall socket. Connect the other end of the power adapter cord into the power cord port on the back of the printer. There's only one port where this cable will fit, so there's no need to worry about incorrectly attaching the cable.

5. Turn on the HP PSC by pressing the "power" button on the control panel.

Ink Cartridge Installation

6. Remove the ink cartridges from their bags and carefully remove all the colored protective tape. Open the access door above the paper tray to access the ink cartridge holders.

7. Hold the black ink cartridge with the label facing up and insert it into the right print cartridge carrier. Be sure not to touch the metal contacts on the back and bottom of cartridges.

8. Insert the multi-colored ink cartridge into the left cartridge carrier. Once both cartridges snap in place, close the access door above the paper tray.

Software Installation

9. Insert the HP PSC 1315 installation CD into the computer's CD drive. The HP set-up assistant will automatically begin the installation process. If it does not, click the "start" menu, choose "computer" in Windows 7 or vista, or "my computer" in Windows XP. Double-click the CD drive to open it and double-click the file named "setup.exe" to launch the setup process.

10. Follow the screen instructions to continue the installation. The setup assistant will guide you through the process of connecting the USB cable between the printer and computer at the appropriate point. Do not connect the cable before prompted.

11. Continue to follow the screen instructions until you reach the screen notification, which indicates you've successfully installed the printer.
