Change A Phone Number & Modify The Sim Card

A new cell phone number takes moments to obtain.


Changing a cell phone number is a quick process, but you'll need help from your cell phone carrier. A customer service agent can also help you note the change on your SIM card.


Instructions


1. Decide whether you want to contact your carrier by phone or go to an authorized service center. If you're going to work over the phone, call from a land line or alternate cell phone with a separate account.


2. Contact the service provider and indicate that you want a new number. The representative may even try to accommodate special number requests.


3. Allow the representative to reprogram the SIM card to reflect the change. You may be directed to type a series of numbers into the phone.


4. Allow several hours for the number change take effect. According to ConsumerAffairs.com, "Cell phone numbers are supposed to be switched in less than three hours but that's just a guideline. It may take longer. " During that time, you can still complete outgoing calls.
