Unlock An At&T Nokia 6800

The Nokia 6800 is a mobile phone often used for business purposes. It comes with high-speed data capabilities and a QWERTY keyboard. It features Java Technology, MMS and advanced email support. If you purchased a Nokia 6800 from AT&T, it is locked to that network. This means that you won't be able to use it on another carrier until you get it unlocked.

Instructions

1. Contact AT&T customer service and request an unlocking code for the Nokia 6800. A representative will give you a code if you have been a customer for at least 90 days.

2. Provide your phone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identification) code. You can find this code by typing *#006# on the keypad of the phone. Wait for the representative to generate a code for the phone.

3. Purchase a new SIM (subscriber identity module) card from another cell phone network. You can buy one for about $20 as of 2011 from a convenience or mobile phone store.

4. Turn off the AT&T Nokia 6800 mobile phone and remove the current SIM card. Insert the new SIM card on the phone and turn it on.

5. Unlock the AT&T Nokia 6800 phone by entering the unlocking code sent to you by AT&T. Allow the phone to restart automatically. You will see the name of the new network at the top your phone. Your Nokia 6800 is now unlocked.
