Global positioning software (GPS) allows you to pinpoint your location. Although there's no GPS program on the BlackBerry, many BlackBerry applications use GPS to find your location and give you directions, determine what other locations are near you and give you the current weather conditions. The BlackBerry 8830 comes with GPS capabilities, but you may need to enable them before your BlackBerry's applications can use them.
Instructions
1. Power up your BlackBerry 8830. Wait for it to finish its boot cycle and show the home screen.
2. Press the menu key to open the list of available applications. Click "Options." Click "Advanced Options" from the list in the Options menu.
3. Open the GPS menu. Change the GPS Services field to "Location ON." Press the menu key. Click "Save."
4. Open the BlackBerry Maps application (from the applications page) to determine whether your GPS is working. Press the menu key. Click "Find Location." Click "Where I am" on the next page to view your current location determined by BlackBerry GPS. If your BlackBerry GPS isn't working, even though you've enabled it, call your mobile service provider's customer service department to troubleshoot your account.
