Connect An Mp3 Player Directly To An Amp

Connect an MP3 Player Directly to an Amp

Typically, an amp, short for amplifier, connects to an electric instrument such as a guitar, keyboard or violin. However, with the "Audio In" port on the front of the speaker you can essentially connect any device that outputs audio. If you have an MP3 player and want to play music out loud, you can connect it directly with your amp, using the aid of a single cable to send the audio signal from the MP3 player to the amp.

Instructions

1. Connect the 3.5-mm end of the cable into the headphone port on the MP3 player. You can find this specific cable at most electronic stores.

2. Plug the 1/4-inch end of the cable into the "Audio In" port on the amp. The 1/4-inch port is often found on stereo systems that allow you to connect professional headphones.

3. Power on the amp and the MP3 player. Select an audio track and press the "Play" button on the MP3 player.

4. Adjust the volume and other settings directly on the amp. All of the audio now plays out of the single amplified speaker.
