Unlock A Blackberry Curve 8300 Sim

If you use a Global System for Mobile Communications, or GSM, phone company with your BlackBerry 8300, chances are the company has locked the SIM application in your phone to recognize only its own SIM cards. This may be a problem if you want to use another company's network for your phone. To use another SIM card, you have to enter the individual unlock code to your handset. Most mobile companies provide this unlock code free of charge to customers in good standing.

Instructions

1. Press the red end call key until the screen on your BlackBerry 8300 lights up. Dial *#06# and press the send key. Take note of the 15-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity, or IMEI, number that displays.

2. Contact your mobile service provider's customer service department. Explain that you need to unlock your BlackBerry 8300 for use on other GSM networks. Give the representative your IMEI number and an email address to send the unlock code to.

3. Turn off your BlackBerry 8300 when you receive the unlock code. Slide the battery panel off the back of the handset and lift the battery out of its compartment. Slide the SIM card holder to the unlock position. Lift the metal holder up and pull the current SIM card out. Place the SIM card from your new network into the SIM card holder with the gold contacts facing down. Push the metal holder down and slide it into the lock position. Replace the battery and battery panel on your BlackBerry 8300.

4. Turn on the BlackBerry 8300. Press the enter key when you see the message that the current SIM card is not supported. Enter the unlock code you received from your mobile provider in Step 2. Press the enter key to complete the unlock process.
