Unlock A Pentech Cell Phone

Pantech cell phones are associated with a specific carrier and operate on the Global System For Mobile Communications (GSM) set of frequencies -- which means they require a SIM card to be inserted -- can be unlocked and used on other wireless carriers around the world. Unlocking your Pantech cell phone can be accomplished by providing phone-specific information to online cell phone unlocking services.

Instructions

1. Locate the IMEI number for your Pantech phone. Pantech prints their devices IMEI numbers on the back of their phones, underneath the battery cover and battery. Write down the 15-digit IMEI number.

2. Visit a trusted online unlocking service. Two sources that have been in business for several years include GSMLiberty and UnlockItNow, which both offer Pantech unlock codes.

3. Find your phone on the unlocking site you choose to use. Typically, there will be a pull down box where you will find the manufacturer (Pantech) and model, such as "Slate," if you are looking for the Pantech Slate. You may also find a search box where you can type in "Pantech Slate."

4. Locate the "Add to Cart" or "Checkout" option on the phone's unlocking page. This is the option you will use to purchase your Pantech devices' personal unlock code (codes vary for each phone). Enter in any payment details required. Some sites also offer Paypal and Google checkout options. You will be asked to enter your phone's IMEI number. You can also call the websites' toll-free numbers for any inquiries.

5. Wait for your code to arrive, which typically takes several hours to seven days, depending on the phone model (newer models arrive more quickly in most cases). Enter in the unlock sequence exactly as provided by the unlocking service. Phone-unlocking sequences can vary greatly based on the model of phone. You will receive a full set of directions that must be followed exactly as written.
