Activate Verizon Cellphones

Verizon Wireless is a trusted provider of cellular phone service. They offer a wide selection of phones for both new customers and for returning customers who are looking to put an old phone to use. Whether you're looking for a new contract or trying to revive a used phone, Verizon needs to activate your device in order for it to operate. This can be done easily with a quick phone call to Verizon customer service, or through a visit to a store near you.

Instructions

1. Verify that your used phone can be activated on the Verizon network. A customer service representative will be able to confirm that the phone model is compatible with Verizon service. A link to the Verizon Customer Service Center is provided in the References section.

2. Locate the ESN (electronic security number) of your used phone prior to having Verizon activate it. This number will need to be cleared to ensure that the phone is not stolen or that it does not have a previous account balance with Verizon.

3. Choose a phone and extended contract online, or at a Verizon store location, if you are looking to purchase a new phone. Pick a contract that works best for you; consider your financial situation and pay-as-you-go (i.e. prepaid) options.

4. Call the Verizon customer service to complete the activation over the phone. A representative will guide you through the process. When it's complete, you will be able to use your phone freely on the Verizon network.

5. Visit a Verizon kiosk or store near you to activate your phone if you run into difficulty (technical, etc.) attempting the process with customer service. Tech specialists and Verizon representatives will be able to work with you one-on-one to get your phone activated.
