Unlock A Nokia 6020

The Nokia 6020 arrives "locked" by the cellular service provider to discourage customers from changing carriers. A locked phone makes it impossible to use a different carrier's SIM card to make or receive calls--but users may unlock the phone for use on any network by entering a special unlock code. Some networks share the unlock code if the customer meets certain requirements. However, most of the time, the customer must buy a code. Multiple online companies offer unlock codes at varying prices.

Instructions

1. Enter *#06# to display your Nokia's IMEI number. This code is unique to each device and is required to generate the unlock codes.

2. Open a web browser such as Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer and navigate to the company web page of an unlocking service (see Resources).

3. Search the database for the availability of Nokia 6020 codes.

4. Enter the IMEI and other details required to purchase the code. The code will arrive via email.

5. Remove the battery to expose the SIM card and remove the SIM card. Replace the battery and turn the device on.

6. Enter #pw+CODE+7#, where the "CODE" is the one received via email. If the message "SIM Restriction Off" appears, the code was entered correctly and the phone is now unlocked.
