Do Threeway Calling

Use three-way calling to catch up with friends and family.

Three-way calling connects two of your friends, family members or business associates to join in on a phone conversation. You can use three-way calling to save time while on a business conference call, or to arrange special activities with friends and family. Most landline and wireless telephone providers offer this feature as part of a calling plan with a monthly fee or as a pay-per-use feature. Follow the same general steps to establish a three-way call regardless of which phone model you have or which provider you use, as the feature works similarly with most carriers.

Instructions

Three-Way Calling on a Landline

1. Dial the number of the first person you wish to call. Once they answer, advise them that you will place them on hold to add the third party.

2. Press and release the receiver or "Flash" button, then wait for three short tones, followed by the dial tone.

3. Dial the number of the third party to add to the existing call.

4. Wait for the third party to answer. Once they are on the line, press the receiver or "Flash" button once to establish the three-way call. If the third party does not answer or you get a busy signal, press the receiver of "Flash" button twice to cancel three-way calling.

5. Press the receiver or "Flash" button once to drop the third party from the conversation or hang up to disconnect both parties and end the call.

6. Dial the number of the first person you wish to call. Once they answer, advise them that you will place them on hold to add the third party.

7. Dial the number of the third party with the original party still on the phone.

8. Press the "Send" button, which puts the original party on hold and dials the third party.

9. Wait for the third party to answer and press the "Send" button again to establish the three-way call. If the third party does not answer or you get a busy signal, press the "Send" button once again to cancel the three-way call and reestablish connection with the original party.

10. Press the "Send" button to drop the third party from the conversation or press the "End" button to disconnect all parties and end the call.
