Set Up Email On Gmail

Gmail is a web-based email service provided by Google. It is unique from other web-based email services in that it uses labels rather than folders for a more "thread-like" appearance, keeping all associated replys in the same "conversation." Gmail also has a maximum attachment size of 25 megabytes (MB). You can set up your email on Gmail in just a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Go to the Gmail homepage (see Resources) and click the "Create an account" button located in the bottom right of your screen.

2. If you already have a Google account, log in by typing your Google name and password into the appropriate fields on the right side of the screen.

3. Import contacts by clicking "Contacts" (located on the left side of your screen) and then "Import," which is on the right. Click "Browse" to find your exported contact list; you can export contacts from Outlook, Yahoo!, Hotmail, Eudora and many other email clients. Highlight your contact file and click "Open."

4. Create labels for your messages by clicking the "Labels" drop-down menu, selecting "Manage labels" and then typing a new label name into the label creation field.

5. Color-code your labels by locating your new labels (on the left side of your screen), clicking the box to the left of the labels and selecting a color from the color palette.
