Update A Sony Mylo 1

The Sony Mylo 1 is a personal communicator. The portable device enables users to surf the Web, read and write e-mail messages, and listen to MP3 files on the go. When the first Mylo was released, it was designed to be compatible with Windows XP. To upgrade the device's firmware and software to be compatible with newer browsers and operating systems, you can install the updates with the Mylo Tools software.

Instructions

1. Plug the Sony Mylo 1 into the power outlet.

2. Download the "SOFOTH-50001300-US.EXE" file from Sony's website to your computer. (See Resources)

3. Double-click to open the downloaded "SOFOTH-50001300-US" file. Click to unpack, or right-click and "Copy," the "UPDATE.BIN" file inside. If copying, right-click on the desktop and select "Paste."

4. Power on the Mylo 1 and connect it to the computer using the USB cable.

5. Open the Mylo Tools software from the desktop "Start" menu. (To download and install this software, see Resources.)

6. Click on the "Update" tab in the Mylo Tools interface.

7. Hit the "Browse" button and browse to where the Update.bin file is located. Select the file; hit the "Open" button. The firmware version is displayed just above the "Start" button in Mylo Tools.

8. Click the "Start" button. Select "Yes" when prompted to begin the update. Click "OK" when informed that update is complete.

9. Unplug the Mylo 1 from the computer. The system will update automatically, which might take several minutes. When the update complete message appears on the screen, power off and power on the device.
