A Comparison Of The Pioneer Pdm406 And Pdm423 Cds

The Pioneer PD-M406 and the Pioneer PD-M423 are CD changers from Japan-based digital audio/video products manufacturer Pioneer Corp. The PD-M423 appeared after the debut of the PD-M406 in 2006. Thus, the M423 is a slightly updated version of the M406 series, even though the products share many of the same CD and audio system specifications.

Main Features

The Pioneer PD-M406 and the Pioneer PD-M423 are six-disc CD changers, meaning that you can put up to six CDs in each player's disc tray for music playback. Each device permits programming for up to 32 tracks for creating a customized playlist, random track play and Hi-Lite Scan for playing up to 10 seconds from the first track of a CD. The M406 has three repeat modes for the tracks, while the M423 offers five.

Technical Specifications

Both devices have a frequency response of 20 to 20,000 hertz, which is the range often cited for high-fidelity sound or normal human hearing. The CD changers also have the same signal-to-noise ratio of 98 decibels; this is the measurement of the desired signal against the level of background noise.

Power

The Pioneer PD-M423 is more energy efficient than the Pioneer PD-M406. Both use a power supply with a line frequency of 60 hertz. However, the one on the PD-M423 offers 120 volts, while the PD-M406 cord provides 130 volts. The power consumption of the PD-M423, when in operational mode, is 10 watts; the PD-M406 consumes more power, with a peak consumption of 12 watts.

Physical Dimensions and Weight

The Pioneer PD-M406 and the Pioneer PD-M423 each have a width of about 17 inches, or 43.2 cm; depth of 12 inches, or 30.5 cm; and height of 4 inches, or 10.2 cm. The weight of each CD changer is around 8 lbs., or 3.6 kg.
