Disassemble A Nokia 5300

The 5300 XpressMusic phone was released in late 2006 by Nokia as a lower tier multimedia mobile phone. It features a 240-by-320 pixels TFT display screen, a 1.3-megapixel camera and a slide-out keypad for convenient use. It also comes with a removable 2GB microSD card, and runs on the 237MHz ARM9 processor. Dismantling the phone allows you to remove and replace problematic components. However, doing so voids your phone's warranty.

Instructions

1. Hold down the phone's "Power" button for a few seconds until the phone shuts off. Close the slide-out keypad, and place the phone face down on a flat surface. Remove the back cover, and remove the battery pack from the phone.

2. Flip the phone over so the LCD screen is facing upward. Insert a guitar pick or credit card into the gap along the front housing's outer edge. Work your way around the entire front housing until it is completely removed from the phone. Removing the front housing reveals the LCD screen.

3. Pry the screen out of its compartment with a guitar pick. Disconnect the tiny ribbon cable from the LCD screen. Remove the screen from the phone, and set it aside.

4. Place the phone face down again, and remove the visible Torx screws from the back of the phone. Insert the guitar pick into the gap along the outside edge of the phone's back casing. Pry the back casing from the phone to reveal the main circuit board.

5. Unplug all cables from the visible side of the circuit board. Remove the screws fastening the circuit board in place. Lift the circuit board out of the phone slightly, and disconnect the small ribbon cables from the opposite side of the circuit board. Remove the board from the phone.
