Move At&T Service To A New Phone By Moving The Sim Card

Transfer your service with a SIM card.

AT&T phones, unlike Sprint and Verizon, use an inserted SIM card to help identify the phone and the user's information (such as contacts and cell phone number). Many phones throughout the world, including Europe and Asia, use this same technology. It also makes it easier to switch between phones without requiring a data transfer service performed by the company (a requirement for Sprint and Verizon users).

Instructions

1. Access the SIM card slot on your current AT&T phone. The exact location will vary, although it is usually housed where the phone's battery is.

2. Slide the SIM card out of the phone. Perform this task with both phones on hand as the SIM card is small and easy to lose.

3. Open the SIM card slot on the new phone and slide the SIM card in. Perform this task while the new cell phone is off.

4. Power on the new cell phone. When the phone boots up it displays your current phone number, and all the contacts you have saved on the card appear in your contacts list.
