Interference and Range
Interference from other electronic devices can often disrupt your Nokia 6301's connection to a Wi-Fi network. Cordless phones especially are known to plague Wi-Fi connections because they operate in the same 2.4 GHz frequency range used for wireless connections. If you find that your Wi-Fi voice calls are plagued with static or fail entirely, move to an area far from the base station of a cordless phone system.
Another common source of connectivity problems with the Nokia 6301 is its proximity to the Wi-Fi router it is connected to. The typical range for a hot spot is 300 feet. The farther you are from the hot spot, the weaker the signal will be. This results in static, dropped calls, etc. Make sure that are you within 150 to 200 feet for optimal performance.
Software Steps
If you are experiencing connection problems while within range of the hot spot and away from cordless phone base stations, it is possible that a software malfunction on the Nokia 6301 may be at fault. To troubleshoot this you will need to delete the currently saved Wi-Fi network and re-add it. Press "Menu," "Settings," "Connectivity," "Wi-Fi" and "Saved Networks." Highlight your current network and hit "Options" and then "Delete." Once the network has been removed, hit "Options" again and then "Add New Network." When you see the name of your network, select "Connect" and test the connection by making a call.
Hardware Failures
If you continue to experience problems, there may be an internal hardware problem at fault. You will need to contact your wireless provider to discuss options for replacing the device or sending it in for repair.
