Update A Honda Navteq Map Dvd

Update a Honda NAVTEQ Map DVD

Global positioning system navigation hardware is available on many new cars and pickups in the new millennium, including Honda passenger vehicles. Honda uses NAVTEQ-brand GPS navigation units. Such devices assist drivers by giving turn-by-turn directions to destinations across the United States and throughout North America. The NAVTEQ GPS units include "points of interest" databases, which display locations such as restaurants, tourist attractions and gas stations on the digital maps generated on the GPS units' display screens. The maps and points-of-interest databases are typically updated yearly. You can purchase updates at Honda's "Navigation" website, then install them on your Honda's NAVTEQ GPS unit.

Instructions

1. Open a web browser on your personal computer and visit the Honda GPS update website (navigation.com). Using the menus on the left side of the web page, select your vehicle's model and year. The latest map update for your Honda will display.

2. Click "Add to Cart" and "Checkout." Enter your shipping and payment information. The update will be mailed to you on DVD. Move to the next step after the DVD has arrived.

3. Start your vehicle's engine and turn on the GPS unit. Eject the unit's original map disc and insert the new one. Wait for the DVD to load. When loading is complete, the new maps will be accessible.
