Use A Usb Cable For A Cell Phone

If you want to back up data from your cell phone to your computer, all you need is a USB data cable. The cable doesn't typically come with the cell phone, but you can pick one up at any electronics store.

Instructions

1. Install your phone's driver onto the computer. If you do not have a driver installation CD for the phone, you can download one from the manufacturing site by searching for your phone under "Support." Then click "Drivers" and choose the operating system you are running.

2. Plug the USB data cable into the power port on your cell phone. Insert the opposite end of the cable into one of your computer's USB ports.

3. Access your phone by clicking "Start," (My) "Computer" and double-click the removable device icon. The removable device is your wireless phone.

4. Click-and-drag the data from the cell phone to any location on the computer. This makes a copy of the files and backs up your information. You can also upload ringtones or phone video games. Just make sure you drag the information into the appropriate folder.

5. Close out the phone window, right-click the removable device icon and select "Eject." Once the device icon disappears you can disconnect your wireless phone from the USB cable.
