Troubleshooting The Service Codes For Unlocking A Dvd Player

Service codes, also known as region codes, lock your DVD player to a specific part of the world. For example, a DVD player from Europe may not play DVDs from the United States. It will not recognize the disc you put in. You need to unlock the service code to allow your DVD player to recognize DVDs. Unlocking the code makes your player universal, allowing it to play DVDs from all over the world.

Instructions

1. Look through your DVD player's user's manual to find its model number and manufacturer's name. Write down this information and keep it at hand.

2. Open a Web browser on your computer. Visit a website that has DVD unlock codes. Examples include Download Info, Video Help and DVD Explorer.

3. Search for a service code by your player's manufacturer name or model number. Write down the unlock code.

4. Follow the instructions to unlock your DVD player. Usually, it requires inputting the code with your player's remote control.

5. Insert a DVD from another country to verify that the player recognizes it.
