Unlock A Nokia 5000

Nokia cell phone

The Nokia 5000 cell phone has numerous security features. You can lock the SIM card located in the battery chamber with a personal identification number (PIN), or security code. You can lock the phone with a "lock code" to prevent outgoing calls if the phone is lost or stolen. The lock code is different from the PIN, which has a default setting of 12345. You can also lock the keypad to prevent accidental calls when the phone gets jostled.

Instructions

1. Enter the SIM card's PIN if prompted. For example, you may need to enter it when you first get your phone, or whenever you lock or unlock the SIM card. If you fail to enter the right PIN in three attempts, the phone prompts you for the personal unblocking key (PUK). Enter the PUK. If you don't remember it, call Nokia customer service or take your phone to the local dealer.

2. Set the phone lock (to prevent outgoing calls) by making the following sequence of selections: Menu, Settings, Security, Access codes, Phone lock. Enter the code that you want to use to lock the phone and select "OK." Unlock the phone by entering the code when prompted and select "OK." The factory default security code is 1234.

3. Prevent the phone from dialing accidentally by locking the keypad. Do this by selecting Menu, and then the asterisk * key less than 3.5 seconds after. Unlock it by pressing "Unlock" and then the asterisk key less than 1.5 seconds after.
