Make Phone Calls Over The Internet To A Landline Phone

Many computer users are opting to make phone calls over the Internet. Services such as Skype and Yahoo! Messenger offer high-quality calling for a lower price than traditional phone service. Calls are made using your computer's built-in microphone and speakers or a USB or analog headset. Some services offer users the ability to make phone calls over the Internet to land-line phones. Depending on the service, there may be a fee associated with making the calls.


Instructions


Skype


1. Download and install Skype on your computer. Follow the installation wizard to install the program correctly. Register for a Skype account.


2. Open the Skype application and click "Call Phones."


3. Enter the land-line phone number of the person you are calling and click "Call."


Yahoo! Messenger


4. Download and install Yahoo! Messenger on your computer. Follow the installation wizard to install the program. Register for a Yahoo! account.


5. Click "Call Phone Number" and sign up for a Yahoo! Voice account.


6. Enter the land-line phone number of the person you are calling and click "Call."


Google Talk


7. Sign up for a Gmail account and access your account.


8. Scroll down and click "Call Phone" and enter the land-line number you are calling.


9. Click "Call" and wait for the party to answer the phone.
