Unlock A Motorola Q Pda Smart Cell Phone

Motorola Cell Phone

Traditionally, a cell phone service provider offers a variety of phones manufactured by electronics companies. These phones are meant to work with the provider's network. Cell phones are "locked" by service providers so that the phones can only operate on their own network. However, most cell phones can be "unlocked" and used on other networks, if software and the service are compatible. An easy way to unlock a cell phone is to call the service provider and ask for an "unlock code," but most service providers will not divulge that information.

Instructions

1. Go to Microsoft's website and download Device Security Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile 5.0.

2. Install and open the software.

3. Connect Motorola Q to the computer.

4. Download "secpolicies.cab" and copy it to the Motorola. This can be found on www.sem.org

5. Install secpolicies.cab on the Motorola.

6. Run "Device Security Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile 5.0" and select "Security off" and then select "Provision." The Motorola Q will run through the installation process and the phone will be unlocked, allowing for adjustments to the service provisions and also the opportunity to attempt to activate the phone with a different service provider.
