Set Up Usb Printer On A Hp Thin Client

Set Up USB Printer on a HP Thin Client

In the business world thin clients like those made by HP have a number of important advantages compared to traditional computers. Since thin clients have no hard drives and no floppy drives there is less risk that proprietary information will leak outside the network; when a thin client fails the network staff can simply remove it and replace it with an identical unit.

Instructions

1. Locate the USB port on your HP thin client. On most models the USB ports will be on the back of the unit, but some models also have USB ports on the side.

2. Unpack the printer you plan to use and remove all packaging material from the unit. Install the ink cartridges and plug the square end of the USB cable into the back of the printer.

3. Connect the flat end of the USB cable to a free USB port on the thin client. Plug the printer in to a surge protector or UPS and power it on. Allow the operating system to find the printer driver and install it.
