Check The Status Of My Ssdi Application

There are several organizations a person can contact to find the status on their Social Security Disability Application.

Social Security Disability Insurance, or SSDI, are Social Security payments to an individual with a disability impairing that person from working. Once the Social Security Administration confirms the individual has a disability, the person is given Social Security payments as if they are a retired individual. If you have a pending Social Security disability case, you can check on the status of this application.

Instructions

1. Go to the Social Security website and check your case in the Application Status Information page. The page requires your Social Security number and your confirmation number, which should be the application number for your case.

2. Call your local Social Security office. Social Security has branches across the country so there should be a local office that you can communicate with. Typically, your claim is being worked at your local office, so the office should have an update on your application status.

3. Contact your state's department Social Security headquarters. This agency has direct connections with the Social Security Administration. At this department, a representative may give you the status on your application.

4. Call a general, toll free Social Security number. This step is one of the last things to perform, since the number is an automated system. There could be a number of errors that occur over the automated system, however, the phone number may still be helpful for some applicants.

5. Appeal the decision if you disagree with Social Security. If you are told that your claim has been rejected, you need to write a letter explaining why you disagree with the decision within a 60-day time frame.
