The Nokia N95 is a wireless phone that uses an operating system to run all the different applications, Internet connection and programs. This operating system is often referred to as the firmware. Although Nokia recommends you always stay current with the firmware, you may not like version 12 (v12) of the firmware update. If this is the case, you can downgrade your phone's operating system through the Nokia firmware installation website.

1. Open your Internet browser and make your way to the Nokia N95 Software installation website (full link provided in "Resources").

2. Click "I have read this information and agree to proceed" on the new page, choose the Nokia N95 as the wireless phone you want to change the firmware to and click "OK." A list of all the firmware updates appears on the screen.

3. Select the firmware you want to downgrade to, then connect your wirelss phone to the computer through a USB data cable.

4. Turn on "Active Standby" by clicking the "Menu" option, "Settings," "General," "Personalization," "Standby mode" and finally "Active Standby On."

5. Wait for the firmware to download to the phone. Once it has finished downloading it loads up an installation process. You do not need to perform any actions here, just let the Nokia N95 run this process.

6. Power down the phone once complete, then restart it and the Nokia N95 finishes it downgrade process.
