Remove Virus That Is Rebooting Windows Xp

Remove a Windows XP virus through Safe Mode.

If you have downloaded a virus from the Internet on your Windows XP computer, you can usually run a virus scanner to remove it. However, if the virus is rebooting your computer before you can run the scanner, this makes removal more difficult. You can start your Windows XP computer in Windows Safe Mode, which will allow your computer to boot up with only the core programs needed to run the computer. This ensures that the virus program does not launch when your computer starts up and will not be able to reboot your computer before you finish a virus scan.

Instructions

1. Turn on your computer and press the "F8" key on your keyboard repeatedly. This will launch the Safe Mode log in screen.

2. Press the "Enter" key on the "Safe Mode" option to start the computer. You will see the files loading in a black and white screen while the computer boots. Once Safe Mode loads, you will see your computer desktop icons.

3. Run your virus scan software and remove all virus infections.

4. Reboot your computer once the scan has completed and allow it to boot into normal mode. With the virus removed, Windows XP will no longer reboot.
