Format N95 Mass Storage

Files cannot be recovered after formatting a microSD card.

Formatting the mass storage card on your Nokia N95 smartphone is helpful if you recently upgraded to the phone but are using an old microSD card from a previous device. For example, formatting may be necessary if your microSD card is loaded with applications for a Windows Mobile phone, as they are taking up memory card space even though the N95 runs Nokia's Symbian operating system. Formatting mass storage also gives you more space to save images and videos taken with the N95.

Instructions

1. Insert the microSD card into your Nokia N95. Lift the cover below the microSD card slot and pull the cover to the right to reveal a hinged door that must be swung to the left. Push your microSD card into the opening with the contacts facing up and the label facing down.

2. Push the card until you hear a "click," at which point it is fully inserted. Push the hinge back in and swing the microSD card slot door closed.

3. Press the "Menu" key and select the "Tools" menu. Open the "Memory" utility.

4. Select "Format memory card" and select "Yes" to confirm the formatting operation. You are returned to the Memory menu upon formatting the card.
