Get Bluetooth on a Laptop

Bluetooth is the name for a type of wireless network that securely and efficiently connects two devices together. Traditionally, Bluetooth is used to connect a cellular telephone and a wireless headset. Bluetooth is not, however, limited strictly to these applications. Bluetooth can also be used in the world of desktop and laptop computers. Use this article as a guide as you connect a device to your laptop computer using Bluetooth.

Instructions

Connecting the Computer

1. Go to the Windows Control Panel. This is a folder containing applications that allow you to alter important system functions dealing with your computer. You can find the Control Panel by clicking on the "Start" menu and selecting "Control Panel."

2. Click on the icon that reads "Hardware and Sound." Then, select the tab that reads "Bluetooth Devices."

3. Click on the "Add" button. This will put your computer in "Search Mode." This means that it will search for any compatible Bluetooth devices in the area.

4. Put your Bluetooth device in "Discovery Mode." This can be done by pressing and holding the button on the side of the device. This will cause the device to send out a signal that will be received by the laptop computer.

5. Select your device from the list of found devices on your laptop. Once this is done, your laptop and Bluetooth device will be permanently connected as long as they are both turned on.
