Make A Telephone Talk From The Internet

Call your loved one from just about anywhere using the Internet.

With technology rapidly changing nowadays, it has become much easier and cheaper to communicate throughout the world using the Internet than it was to communicate via phone just a few years ago. All you need is a reliable Internet connection, and a software application capable of connecting calls worldwide from your PC or a hardware device that performs the same function using a regular phone. Such applications, called VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), require you to make a small payment for their services, and you can make a phone call to just about anywhere in the world. There are two general ways of achieving this objective: using a computer, or using a hardware device that connects to your Internet Broadband.

Instructions

Telephone Talk Using A Computer

1. Choose an application for making telephone calls through the Internet. There are many such applications like Skype, Yahoo! Voice through Yahoo! Messenger, and Windows Live Call through Windows Messenger. You can find links to the websites in the Resources section.

2. Install the program of your choice.

3. Test your speakers and microphone once the program has been installed and make sure the sound is calibrated to your desire.

4. Run the program and follow the instructions to log on to an existing account or to sign up with a new User-ID.

5. Log on using the user ID you just created.

6. Purchase credit from the application. Usually if you try to place a call, it will redirect you to purchasing credit if you have no credit already. There are different ways of obtaining the credit. For instance, Skype allows users to purchase credit from their "Moneybookers" account or by using a credit card. Other VoIPs too, let you purchase credit using a credit card.

7. Dial the number you need to call, and press the Call button on the screen in order to place the call.

9. Register on the website of the company which you prefer. Select a payment method that's suitable to you. Most companies offer you monthly, yearly, or a one-time payment plan.

10. Receive an adapter in the mail, and set it up according to manufacturer's settings.

11. Plug your regular touchtone telephone into the adapter's jack.

12. Connect broadband modem and adapter using the Ethernet cable. Insert the power wire into an electrical socket. Wait until all LED's (Power, Ethernet, Phone Line) are properly lit. Make as many phone calls, as per plan, as you wish.
