Reinstall The Software On My Nokia 5300

The Nokia 5300 cellular phone is equipped with an FM radio, MP3 player and has instant messaging and Internet browsing capabilities. While the device is discontinued, Nokia still offers support for the phone, including two methods of software updates.

Nokia Software Updater

The Nokia Software Updater is an application used to both update and recover Nokia device software. The application has to be installed on a computer. In order to use the Software Updater application to reinstall software on the Nokia 5300 phone, the phone needs to be connected to the computer.

Connection

The Nokia 5300 may be connected to a computer using the USB data cable that came with your phone (order a replacement USB data cable from the "Nokia Store" link in Resources). Plug the small end of the USB data cable into the USB connector located on the top edge of the Nokia 5300 phone. Plug the other end of the USB data cable into a USB port on the computer.

Wireless Option

Open the phone's menu and select "Applications" to reinstall software onto the Nokia 5300 using the phone's wireless Internet connection. Select "Options," then "Downloads." Select "App. Downloads." A list of available bookmarks to websites offering Nokia software is shown. Select the bookmark you want. Browse to find the software you would like to reinstall onto the Nokia 5300.
