Set Up A Wifi Internet Phone

Phone calls can be made over the Internet.

Wi-Fi phones connect to the Internet through a broadband wireless Internet connection. Wi-Fi "hotspots" can be free to use. The average American cell phone bill is $50 per month. Using the Wi-Fi phones can drastically reduce the cost of local and international calls, and some homes are now operating fully on Wi-Fi phone connections.

Instructions

1. Charge the phone battery. Connect the phone to the charger and charge until the battery is full.

2. Install product software. If product software is provided with the phone, then insert the CD and follow on-screen instructions to install the software. This is normally a package that includes updates for the phone.

3. Turn on the phone and sign in to the wireless. Phones automatically detect wireless networks. If your wireless network has a password, then enter this to gain access to the Wi-Fi.

4. Sign in to a provider that enables you to make phone calls using the Wi-Fi phone. A number of providers are available on the Internet. If you use the same provider as a friend, then this can enable you to make free calls to each other when you are both online. Otherwise, these providers offer extremely reduced rates to call to landlines and cell phones around the world.
