One of the wonders of modern cell phone technology is their increasing ability to interact with personal computers. In addition to simply making and receiving calls, cell phones can now act as full-fledged multimedia units. By transferring music from your PC to your phone, you can use them as customized ring tones or simply listen to them using your cell phone's speakerphone or headphone jack.
Instructions
1. Make sure your cellphone supports microSD memory. A microSD card is a small memory card used for transferring files between a computer and a cell phone. If your phone was purchased within the last five years it will more-than-likely have a microSD card port. If it is any older, it may not. Look around the sides of your phone for a small input labeled "microSD." If you do not have one of these ports, you will not be able to transfer music from your PC to your phone.
2. Purchase a MicroSD card. It usually will have at least 1 GB of memory.
3. Put your microSD card in your computer's microSD card reader slot. If your computer doesn't have a memory card reader built in, you may have to purchase one. Often these devices can be purchased for around $20 at major electronics retailers. They connect to your computer via a USB port.
4. Open "My Computer." Under the list of drives connected to your computer, a folder representing your microSD card will be listed. Double-click on the folder to open it.
5. Drag music files form your computer into the folder that represents your microSD card.
6. Eject the microSD card from your computer. Certain memory card readers and computers will have a physical eject button that pops the card out of its little slot. Others may require you to physically grab onto it and pull it out.
7. Put the microSD card into the microSD card slot on your cell phone. It will continue to push in until you hear a clicking sound. Once the card is in your phone the songs you have put on the card are now accessible through your phone's main menu.
