Make Free Computer Phone Calls

If you have a computer with high-speed Internet access, you can make free calls to locations all over the world. This is possible through the use of Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, technology. New computers all come capable of making Internet phone calls. More important than your computer specifications is your Internet connection speed. The faster the speed, the better the quality of the phone call.

Instructions

Google Voice

1. Create a Google account if you don't already have one. You can do this by going to the Google accounts page (see Resources). Click "Sign Up" and fill out the registration form.

2. Make sure your microphone and headphones are connected. You can listen through your computer speakers, but for better quality and privacy, headphones are better.

3. Once you have your Google account, navigate to the Google Voice Web page. Google Voice will walk you through creating your phone number.

4. Click the "Call" button, enter the phone number you would like to call and click "Connect."

Using Skype

8. Make sure your microphone and headphones are connected. You can listen through your computer speakers, but for better quality and privacy, headphones are better.
