Extract Files From Nbu

NBU stands for "Nokia Backup." Files with an ".nbu" extension contain backup information for Nokia phones including address books, contact information, calendars, and other user data. If you want to extract information from an NBU file to place back on your Nokia phone, you can do so using some free programs available online, as well as the native program Windows Media Player. This program is found on computers running Windows.

Instructions

1. Download and install one of the programs that can open NBU files -- Nokia PC suite, Nobi or NBU Explorer. Right-click on the file, and select "Open with." Select the program you want, and then drag the files that come up to your desktop.

2. Connect your phone to your computer with the USB data cord for the phone.

3. Select "Windows Media Player" in the autoplay box. Click and drag the Nokia files you want to the "Sync List" area under "Sync" in Windows Media Player. Click "Start Sync" to transfer the extracted files to your phone.
