Troubleshoot Problems With Flip Video

Point the camera at the subject you'd like to record and press the red "Record" button if videos are not being recorded.


Flip Video cameras are made by Cisco and are one of the best-selling brands of camcorders in the United States. They advantage of Flip Video cameras over standard video cameras is that Cisco's Flip Videos allow you to instantly capture and share video over social networking applications. Problems with Flip Video cameras can be related to playback codecs, recording and other playback problems.


Instructions


1. Install the disc that came with the Flip Video onto your computer if the videos you've made won't playback on your computer. The codecs are likely missing. Codecs are needed to interpret data. Place the CD in the CD drive and follow the on-screen instructions. Try to view the video again.


2. Press the "Power" button on the Flip Video and wait for the "Ready" designation in the top left corner of the screen to display if you have problems recording. The remaining available time is displayed in the bottom right. Make sure you have enough available time if videos are cut short. Point the camera at the subject you'd like to record and press the red "Record" button if videos aren't being recorded. Don't hold the red button. Make sure the red light is on; it's on the front of the Flip Video.


3. Recharge or replace the batteries if the battery status symbol flashes. The symbol is at the bottom right of the screen.


4. Disconnect the Flip Video from a television or computer if you want to continue recording and the Flip Video won't. Flip Video cameras won't record when they are connected to an external screen.
