Computer viruses are a major threat that can severely cripple or even crash your computer. These viruses can be transmitted to your computer either directly from the Internet or from the use of an infected floppy/CD/pen drive. It is highly recommended that you subscribe to an antivirus service that will help in keeping your computer clean. Antivirus programs constantly run in the background, checking active programs for virus-like activities.
Instructions
Find and Remove a Virus Using the Microsoft Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner
1. Navigate to the Microsoft Windows Live OneCare safety scanner Web page (see Resources).
2. Click the "Protection Scan" button.
3. Click the "Accept" button on the Service Agreement page.
4. Click the "Install Now" button on the Install the Scanner page. Windows Live OneCare safety scanner will be installed on your computer. After it is installed, repeat Step 1 and Step 2 to start the scanning of your computer. After the scanning is complete, you will be shown the scan result along with the threats found and the options to remove them.

5. Navigate to the ESET Online Antivirus Scanner Web page (see Resources).
6. Click on the "ESET Online Scanner" button.
7. Click to select the "Yes, I Accept the Terms of Use" check box on the Web page that opens.
8. Click the "Start" button. The scanning process will start.
Find and Remove a Virus Using the F-Secure Online Scanner
9. Navigate to the F-Secure Online Scanner Web page (see Resources).
10. Click to select the "I Have Read and Accepted the License Terms" check box on the Web page that opens.
11. Click the "Run Check" button. This will start the scanning process.
