When the voicemail icon continues to display on your LG Chocolate even after you've checked and cleared new messages, the problem lies with the voicemail server rather than your device. This happens due to a bug in the voicemail platform that causes it to incorrectly sense the status of new messages. Because it does not realize that the latest message has been cleared, the system continuously notifies you of a new message until you resolve the glitch. Thankfully, the process of doing so takes very little time and effort to complete.
Instructions
1. Leave yourself a new voicemail. Call from a land line or utilize a friend or family member's phone to do this. Hang up the phone when you are done leaving the message.
2. Check your voicemail from your cellphone. Listen to the new voicemail in its entirety, then press the "7" key to delete it.
3. Press the "*" key to back out to the main voicemail menu. Confirm that the system no longer audibly reports a new message, then hang up.
4. Check your screen to confirm that the voicemail icon has disappeared.
