Create ring tones to personalize your phone.
The Nokia E71 is a smart phone that provides email, messaging and Internet browsing capabilities. The phone also features navigation and wireless Internet connectivity. If you would like to personalize your Nokia phone, you can create and upload ring tones for your phone. To do so, you will need to use an online program and will need to use your phone's USB cord to upload the ring tone.
Instructions
1. Open your computer's "My Documents" folder and browse your "Music" folder to locate the song you would like to use as a ring tone.
2. Click your computer's browser icon to open it and enter the address of the free online ring tone creator of your choosing, such as MakeOwnRingtone, ToneBee or Cell Sea.
3. Following the instructions provided on the website, upload the ring tone by browsing your computer for the song you have located.
4. Select the portion of the song you would like to use as your ring tone, such as the chorus, by dragging the on-screen markers to set range and clip duration. Your ring tone clip should last approximately 30 seconds.
5. Press "OK" or "Select" to listen to your clip. If it is suitable for you, press "Make a Ringtone" or a button of similar function to convert your uploaded song to a ring tone.
6. Press "Save" to download the ring tone to your computer. Be sure to save the file as "ringtone" in your "Music" folder for easy identification.
7. Connect your phone to your computer by inserting the small end of your phone's USB cable into your phone's USB slot and the other end into your computer's USB port. Your computer will display your phone in a new folder.
8. Open the folder containing the ring tone you have created, as well as the folder for your phone.
9. Click and drag the ring tone to your phone's "Media" folder, which will save the song to your phone.
