Open An Amr File

The media player that comes standard with your computer is likely to have a hard time handling certain files. It may require further downloads to get a file working, or it may not be able to play a file at all. This can often happen with .amr files. An AMR file is a file format often used to record speech on devices such as phones and portable recorders. Many media players have problems opening .amr files, but by downloading and installing RealPlayer, Apple QuickTime or Total Video Player, you will be able to listen to your .amr file.


Instructions


1. Open your Web browser.


2. Navigate to the download page of a media player that supports .amr files. These media players include RealPlayer, Apple QuickTime and Total Video Player


3. Click on the link to download the appropriate player.


4. Double-click on the downloaded .exe file to install the program.


5. Right-click on the .amr file on your hard drive.


6. Click "Open With" and click on the name of the media player you downloaded and installed to your computer.
