Unlock A Cincinnati Bell Phone

Unlock your Cincinnati Bell phone so that you can use it on other networks.

Cincinnati Bell Wireless (CBW) is the main company providing mobile phone services to Cincinnati, Ohio and its nearby suburbs and states. It started as a joint venture with AT&T Wireless but in February 2006, CBW took full control and bought out AT&T. If you purchased your phone through Cincinnati Bell then it is locked to that network. This means that you will not be able to use it when you put a SIM card from a different service provider in it.

Instructions

1. Find an unlock code provider. There are dozens available online. A few choices that offer unlock codes for Cincinnati Bell phones are TradeUnlock, Cellunlock and UnlockToTalk. Prices per code can range from $10 to $29.99 as of 2010.

2. Sign up with the provider. Once you have chosen the unlock provider that supports your phone, you need to register with them. Enter your email, phone manufacturer, model and IMEI number. The IMEI number can be obtained by typing in "*#06#" on your screen. You will also be asked to supply your payment details.

3. Receive the unlock code. Most companies will send you your codes within 24 to 48 hours. The code will be sent to you through an email along with the instructions on unlock your phone.

4. Unlock your Cincinnati Bell phone. Replace your existing SIM with another card from a different service provider. Turn your phone on. You will see the prompt "Enter Unlock Code", key in the unlock code from the email. Verify this by finding the name of the new network at the top of your phone screen.
