Find The Ip Address To Access A Vpn Windows Server

Find the IP address for connecting to a Windows VPN server.

Typically a VPN server resides behind a firewall in order to protect the server from malicious activity on the Internet. The firewall provides access to the VPN server using a configuration known as "port forwarding" which enables the firewall to forward all VPN requests to the VPN server. In order to access a VPN server, you need to know the Internet facing IP address of the firewall.

Instructions

1. Open Internet Explorer on the VPN server by clicking the "Start" button, then click the "Run" or "Search" box and type "iexplore" in the "Run" or "Search" box and press the "Enter" key.

2. Type the URL address of your favorite search engine (such as Google, Yahoo or Ask) into the web address bar of Internet Explorer (located near the top of the Internet Explorer window) and press the "Enter" key.

3. Type "what is my ip" into the "Search" field of the search engine web page and press the "Enter" key.

4. Click the hyperlink associated with one of the top three items listed in the search engine results page. The IP address displayed in the web page is the Internet facing IP address of the firewall. It is used to access the Windows VPN server from the Internet.
