Subscribe To Gprs

General Packet Radio Service, or GPRS, is a wireless data service available on most GSM networks in the United States and Europe. GPRS is the first level of data service on GSM, providing speeds similar to a dial-up modem --- data that can be used for Web browsing, email and multimedia messages. Data is charged by the amount used, such as kilobytes or megabytes, rather than connect time. If your phone has the ability to access the Internet, it may be GPRS-ready.

Instructions

1. Estimate how much data you'll need. Visit your wireless provider's website and look for a data usage calculator. Choose how many emails you want to send and receive, how many Web pages you'll view, and other ways you will use data.

2. Add a data package to your wireless plan. You may be able to do this online, over the phone or in person by visiting your carrier's store. Wireless providers typically provide data plan choices ranging from light to heavy use.

3. Open your phone's Web browser from the main menu. Type in a Web address and check that the page opens, indicating your GPRS is activated.

4. Set up data-based services on your phone. Follow your device manufacturer's instructions for setting up email, location-based services if your phone has GPS, and games and applications.
