Unlock a Prepaid Motorola Cell Phone
Unlocking your prepaid Motorola cell phone will allow you to use it with additional carriers and SIM cards. Whether you are changing from a prepaid plan and want to continue to use your prepaid phone, or you simply want to be able to resell the phone at a higher value, unlocking it will let allow anyone in the world use their SIM cards on your device.
Instructions
1. Power your phone off. Remove the working SIM card and insert a locked SIM card from another carrier. Power the phone on.
2. Wait for the phone to load and display an error message or prompt for an unlock code. Allow the phone to sit, up to several hours, without pressing any buttons or turning it off, if an error message is displayed. Wait for the error message to change to a password prompt.
3. Enter the unlock code when prompted for a "subsidy password." Obtain this code from your service provider, or purchase it from a private company online.
4. Restart your phone to confirm that it is unlocked.
