I Am Unable To Set Up Voicemail On My Nokia 6300

The Nokia 6300 offers several handy features, including the ability to send text messages and receive recorded voicemail messages. If you can't set up the voicemail on your phone, start by finding out if voicemail is activated on your account before assuming the problem is with the phone itself.

Call Your Provider

Voicemail is a subscription service with most cellular carriers. Even with those carriers who offer voicemail for free, their systems usually require voicemail to be activated on your account before you can set it up. If you're having trouble accessing the voicemail system to set up your account, call your mobile service provider to ensure there's no mistake on their part.

Speed Dial

Many phones are set up with the number "1" as the speed dial access to voicemail accounts. If you're pressing and holding "1" but can't access your voicemail to set it up, the problem could be with the programmed speed dial number. Verify with your mobile service provider that the number called when you press "1" is the correct number to access your voicemail.

Password

Your voicemail usually has a password set by the mobile service provider to keep unauthorized people from accessing your voicemail or changing your settings. You may not be able to choose the initial password, but your provider should give it to you, or it may be found in the provider's documentation included with your phone. If you are using a password you think is correct but can't set up your voicemail, ask your service provider for the correct default password.

Menu Button

If you try to access voicemail options, such as the number of rings before the voicemail answers, through your phone's menu but are having trouble, turn off your phone and remove the battery. When you replace the battery, your phone performs a complete reboot, which may correct any operating system errors that are keeping you from setting up your voicemail.
