Unlock A Tmoble 6030 Cell Phone

Unlock your Nokia 6030 mobile phone.

The Nokia 6030 for T-Mobile is a basic phone with no camera, or MP3 player, although you can surf the Internet and check email with it. You may have gotten one when you signed up for a two-year contract with T-Mobile, but now that it is ending you want to switch to a different service provider. So what can you do? The answer is to unlock your 6030, which will enable you to use it on any network anywhere in the world.

Instructions

1. Retrieve the IMEI number (international mobile equipment identification) number. This is the equivalent of your serial number that your mobile service provider uses to identify your phone with. Remove the back of your phone and take out the battery. Underneath it you will find a 15-digit number on a sticker. Write the number down. If the sticker is missing, dial *#06# and the IMEI will appear on the screen.

2. Go to a mobile unlock website that sells codes for the Nokia 6030. Websites you might consider include GlobalUnlock.com, NokiaFree and GSMLiberty. All of these provide codes to unlock your phone for a fee that, as of 2010, runs from $14.99 to $29.99.

3. Enter the IMEI number in the first box at the website you've chosen to work with. Choose Nokia for "Make" and 6030 for "Model," from the drop-down menu. Choose United States for "Country" and T-Mobile for "Network" and click "Submit." This takes you to the payment page.

4. Put in the details for your credit card or paypal account, along with a valid email address and click "Purchase Codes."

5. Check your email for the unlock codes and instructions.

6. Turn off the power on your Nokia 6030 and slide the back cover off. Take out the battery and remove the SIM (subscriber identification module). This is the white plastic chip that carries your phone's memory. Replace the SIM with one from a different network, replace the battery and turn the phone back on. You will get a message that you are on the wrong network and you will be asked for a code.

7. Enter the unlock code exactly as you see it. Do not add any spaces. The phone will beep and flash and restart. When it comes back on you will get a message that your phone is unlocked and you will see the new network at the top of your screen.
