Connect A Bluetooth Cell

Many phones and smartphones are Bluetooth-enabled.

Bluetooth technology allows devices to connect and transmit data wirelessly at distances of less than 30 feet. The technology's speed and range make it ideal for connecting Bluetooth-enabled cell phones to computers to transfer music and movies to the mobile device. The process of connecting two Bluetooth devices is called "pairing." You'll have to pair your Bluetooth cell phone to a computer before transferring any media or other data to it.

Instructions

1. Put your Bluetooth cell phone in "discovery" mode. This allows it to be discovered by other Bluetooth devices. Discovery mode is activated differently on different phones. The process should be described in the phone's owner's manual.

2. Open "Devices and Printers" from the "Start" menu and click the "Add a device" button near the top of the window. Windows will search for your phone and display a list of devices available to connect to. Most of the time, your phone should be the only entry shown.

3. Select your phone from the list and click "Next."

4. Enter the password displayed on the computer into the Bluetooth cell phone. Alternately, you might be asked to input a code displayed on the phone into your computer. Once the codes have been properly entered, the computer finishes connecting to the cell phone via Bluetooth.
