Set Up Gprs Manually For An Mtn Phone

How do I Set Up GPRS Manually for an MTN Phone?

GPRS offers mobile Internet connectivity to cell phones, but it works only on GPRS-devices. Usually, the network carrier sends GPRS settings via text message. The same holds true for MTN, a telecom company operating in several African countries, including South Africa and Nigeria. However, some cell phone devices do not support this method of GPRS installation because their software does not support the automated configuration messages. On such cellphones, you have to manually set up GPRS. MTN has published these settings on their website for anyone who has trouble receiving the automatic settings.

Instructions

1. Go to "Tools"/"Settings" menu on your phone. Choose "Connectivity" and open "Access Point" to enter your GPRS settings manually.

2. Enter the details in the respective fields as per your MTN setup instructions. In the "Account name," type "MTN GPRS" for IP address type in "10.199.212.2" and set the "Port" to "9201.'

3. Enter "web" in both the username and password fields. Type "web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net" as the "Access Point Name (APN)," and set "Domain" as "mtn.com.ng."

4. Press the "OK" button to save these settings and exit the "Access Point" editing menu.

5. Restart your cell phone device to activate the settings.
