Remove A Sim Card From A Phone

SIM cards are only used in the United States for GSM networks.

The "Subscriber Identification Module," or SIM, of your cell phone allows your cellular provider to identify you and direct calls to your phone. In some cases, pictures and contacts are also stored on the SIM card. If you are selling your phone, you should remove the SIM card for security reasons. You can also remove the SIM card to replace it, which allows you to use a different phone number, and possibly a different cellular provider, on the same phone.

Instructions

1. Press the power button on your cell phone for a few seconds to power off the phone.

2. Turn the phone over and remove the battery cover according to your phone's manual. In most cases, removing the battery cover involves applying downward pressure and sliding the cover toward the bottom of the phone. However, some phones have a cover release button which must be pressed.

3. Grasp the battery and lift it out of the phone. This exposes the battery compartment where SIM cards are usually installed.

4. Slide the small, rectangular SIM card toward the center of the battery compartment to remove it from the caddy or SIM slot.
