Unlocking a phone frees it from its original network. Once unlocked, you can use the phone with any network of your choice. Apart from this, you will also get a better price if you decide to sell the unlocked phone after using it for some time. You can unlock your Samsung phone online by purchasing an unlock code from phone unlocking sites. This method of unlocking is perhaps the simplest, and is known as remote cellphone unlocking. It doesn't require any particular hardware or software. It doesn't even require technical expertise. You can do it yourself at home.
Instructions
1. Get your Samsung phone's International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number by dialing *#06#. You can also see the number on the back of the phone under its battery.
2. Go to a website that sells unlock codes for Samsung phones (see Resources).
3. Select your Samsung phone model on the website. Provide its IMEI number, your name and email address. Provide your billing details and make the payment for the code. The code will be emailed to you along with the unlocking instructions.
4. Enter the unlock code into your Samsung phone. The unlocking instructions that come with the code will tell you enter the code. Generally, you have to place a SIM card from any locked network into the phone. Upon switching the phone on, it will prompt you for SIM unlock code. Enter the unlock code. The phone will then display that the restriction has been removed.
