Change Lock Code In The Nokia E61i

The Nokia E61i smartphone comes with a built-in security system that allows you to lock the phone's keypad. When it's locked, the phone will ring or vibrate for an incoming call or message. You cannot answer the call or check the message until the keypad is unlocked. You can change the lock code at any time. If you do change it, Nokia recommends not using a code that is similar to an emergency number such as 9-1-1 because it may result in accidentally dialing the emergency number in a non-emergency situation.

Instructions

1. Press the "Menu" button on the Nokia E61i and then select "Tools." A new menu will open.

2. Select the "Settings" option followed by "Security." Another menu will open.

3. Select the "Phone and SIM" option. This is where you change the lock code.

4. Type the current code for the phone using the phone's keypad. The default code is 12345.

5. Enter the new code twice. According to the user manual, the new code can be between four and 255 characters long and can contain letters and numbers. The phone will give you an error message if the new code is entered incorrectly.
